Doctrinal Affirmation for SCC Missionaries
The Bible, including both Old and New Testaments, is the verbally, divinely inspired Word of God, being without error in its original manuscripts and faithfully preserved by God. It is absolute in its authority, complete in its revelation, final in its content, and supreme in its teaching of faith and life.

God is one God, who eternally exists in the three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary and is fully God and fully man. He lived a sinless life and perfectly fulfilled all that the Father directed Him to do. He was crucified for our sins and died, was buried, and was bodily raised from the dead on the third day. He ascended into heaven and is there now as our High Priest and Advocate.

The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; He regenerates and baptizes all believers into the body of Christ, which is the Church; He indwells each believer at the moment of salvation, guides him into truth, and works to bring him to maturity. The Holy Spirit bestows spiritual gifts upon each one and fills those who are yielded to Him for service.

Man was created in the image of God, innocent and without sin. Man willfully disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, thus bringing spiritual and physical death upon himself and passing sin and death to all mankind who would follow. Man can only be reinstated to a relationship with God by exercising faith in the atoning death of Christ. God desires all who are saved to live for His glory.

The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only basis for the justification and salvation for all who believe. Only those who receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become the children of God. Salvation is a free gift from God, and it can in no way be earned by human works or merit. All who are truly born again are kept in salvation by the power of God.

In its invisible form, the church is the true body and bride of Christ, comprised of all who have exercised saving faith in Jesus. The church is the pillar and support of the truth, and it is charged with the task of proclaiming the gospel to the world.

We await the personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ for the rapture of the Church. This hope has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer. There will be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust, with everlasting life for the saved and everlasting suffering for the lost.
